Prodrive Recruitment Consultants Ltd are seeking an experienced and detail-orientated Welding Inspector to join our well-established clients based in Pershore, Worcestershire who are leading manufacturers of complex and safety-critical engineering parts for the defence sector. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to lead and be responsible for ensuring that all welding and fabrication activities comply with customer specifications, defence industry standards and relevant codes to ensure that the highest company quality standards are met. The Welding Inspector will play a pivotal role in supporting the manufacture of mission critical and precision-grade products by carrying out inspections throughout production and maintaining accurate and detailed quality records.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out efficient first off Welding Inspections of components to ensure that products meet with approved design data and quality control company requirements
  • Carry out 1st article inspections and customer witness inspections
  • Verification of welder qualifications and strictly ensuring that only approved welding procedures are used
  • Carry out inspection of welding and fabrication activities in accordance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and individual customer requirements
  • Conduct visual inspections throughout welding operations from start, mid-weld and at the end of the process
  • Complete inspection reports including FAI reports and quality documentation to a high standard
  • Support internal and external audits and liaise with Quality supervision to raise non-conformance reports for products that do not conform to specification whilst assisting with subsequent Root Cause analysis
  • Assisting with and coordinating the preparation of systems documentation to meet with the requirements of statutory and regulatory bodies, including versions of ISO 9001, 3834, EN 15085 and DIN 2303 (and applicable others)
  • Ensuring all welding equipment is maintained to a high standard in line with the calibration system requirements
  • Identifying opportunities for training and promote awareness and use of the Business Management System/s.
  • Assist management in maintaining production output to match customer requirements.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in a similar position within a metal fabrication and assembly environment on aluminium, steel and stainless steel working with international regulatory standard: ISO 9001 and current experience working to ISO 5817 and ISO 10042
  • Good IT proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while adhering to deadlines with a strong commercial awareness

Qualifications:

  • CSWIP 3.1 - National Accreditation Welding Inspector - Essential
  • CSWIP - National Accreditation 3.2 - Desirable
  • PCN Level III - Desirable
  • Current experience of working with international regulatory standards; ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and EN 15085, DIN 2303, or equivalent
  • NDT inspection and Internal Auditor Trained / IOSH

Salary: £18.00 - 20.00 p/hr DOE + company benefits

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday 07:45 - 17:15, Friday 07:45 - 13:00 (Early Finish)
