Prodeck-Fixing Ltd are looking to recruit a CAD Technician with a strong knowledge of the latest versions of AutoCAD. Duties will include the preparation of detailed layout drawings, relevant calculations and material schedules to enable the manufacture and installation of metal decking and associated products on contracts undertaken by the company. A sound understanding and working knowledge of Tekla Structures would be advantageous.

We design, supply and install metal deck floor systems for some of the UK’s largest projects. We are a small team of highly motivated and dedicated staff, who thrive in providing an outstanding service to our clients.
Job Tasks:
- Provide excellent service to all customers in line with company standards.
- Work as part of a team with all staff to meet the department objectives and to ensure projects are kept on time and within budget.
- Preparation of detailed layout drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD and Tekla Structures), detailing the type and extent of profiled metal decking and associated materials required.
- Maintain all revisions of project drawings, updating when necessary.
- Liaise with Engineers, Architects and Clients as required to obtain critical design information necessary to complete project.
- Preparation of material schedules for manufacture based on the approved layout drawings.
- Liaise with all relevant suppliers to ensure effective delivery on all contracts.
- Check drawings and schedules of other CAD team members in accordance with the Drawing Office procedures.
- Assist and support the technical team as and when required with queries from clients, engineers or architects, through telecommunication, email and face‑to‑face design meetings (as and when necessary).
- Assist customers with information on products, queries, problems and complaints.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co‑workers, site installation teams and managers.
- Routine filing and drawing office administration as and when required.
Personal Qualities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, & AutoCAD LT (Tekla Structures would be advantageous).
- Strong organisational skills including project related paperwork, project management and time management.
- Take responsibility for own personal development in line with annual performance objectives.
- Work under own initiative or as part of a small motivated team.
- Hard working, dedicated and reliable with good problem‑solving skills.
- Professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and always adhere to company’s Health and Safety procedures.

- Understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
- Ability to review 3D models and identify any design related issues.
Entry Requirements:
- The desired candidate will have successfully completed a Level 3 Apprenticeship, Extended Diploma/Diploma/Subsidiary Diploma or similar in the construction engineering sector or have at least 2 years experience working as an AutoCAD Technician within the Construction Industry.
- A sound knowledge of Tekla Structures would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade A-C to include Maths, English & IT.
- Must have a knowledge and experience of AutoCAD LT.
- Job specific training will be given, however a fundamental understanding of AutoCAD software will be required.
Training:
- Job specific full training will be given in all areas as required.
- CSCS card training and exam will be provided, if required.
- Read, understand and interpret Engineers, Architects and steelwork drawings.
Working Hours: Working hours are typically Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, 40 hours per week. Most of your time would be spent in front of a computer, working in a drawing office, with occasional travel to meet clients or visit construction sites.
Salary: Up to £32,000.00 per annum. Negotiable upon experience. Your employment will also be subject to successful completion of a probationary period of 6 months from the start of your employment.
