We need an experienced solution architect with 8-12+ years who works closely with the Business Systems Architect on service operations platforms and managed services delivery. Embedded in workstreams, you break down strategic designs for service operations into implementable features whilst ensuring operational stability, cost-to-serve improvement and customer-facing managed services quality.
Essential Experience
- End-to-End Solution Design & Leadership
- Proven experience creating E2E architectures for service operations with business and operational stakeholders
- Skilled in HLD/LLD documentation, UML and architecture tooling
- Balances functional and non-functional requirements (scalability, resilience, security, cost) for operational systems
- Effective in cross-functional, multi-vendor service delivery environments
- Familiar with Agile delivery practices and Behave/BDD (Gherkin syntax) for collaborative workflows
- Service Operations Platforms & Architecture
- Service operations platforms: ServiceNow (ITSM, ITOM, AIOps, CMDB, Service Catalogue, Automation), Entuity (network monitoring), Netbrain (network automation and documentation), Dynatrace (APM, observability, SRE)
- Business systems domain knowledge: BAU applications (sales, service, enterprise systems) and service operations platforms including Service Desk, AI Ops, Lead-to-Cash operational processes (Pricing/Design/Quoting/SRM), billing, inventory
- Understanding how operational platforms support managed services delivery and cost optimisation
- Systems Integration & Event-Driven Architecture
- Systems integration: linking together service operations platforms, BAU applications and NaaS capabilities
- Expertise in integration patterns (OpenAPI, REST, gRPC, GraphQL)
- Strong background in pub/sub and event brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) including security (TLS/SASL), scaling and schema evolution
- API Development & Integration
- Strong expertise in API lifecycle design using OpenAPI specifications
- Knowledge of headers, correlation/tracking IDs, authentication/authorisation and versioning
- Hands‑on API design connecting service delivery systems with operational platforms
- Service Operations Automation & Observability
- Service operations automation: process automation patterns, AI‑driven optimisation, billing automation, inventory accuracy improvement, self‑service capabilities that reduce manual propensity
- Operational excellence: comprehensive observability including metrics, logging, distributed tracing and telemetry
- Proficient with observability frameworks (Prometheus, ElasticSearch, Grafana, Dynatrace) for metrics, logs and traces
- Product & Data Foundations
- Strong grasp of data/information modelling for service operations interoperability
- Proficient in backend programming (Python, Java, C++)
- Experienced in data persistence across SQL (Postgres, MySQL), NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB) and TSDB (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, Prometheus TSDB)
- Skilled in schema design, optimisation and performance tuning for operational systems
- Highly Desirable Cloud Services & Distributed Systems
- Experience designing for multi‑cloud, hybrid and on‑prem service delivery environments
- Skilled in cloud‑native patterns for service operations (PaaS, SaaS, serverless, containers, orchestration)
- Cloud platforms: AWS or GCP commonly used services
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and transaction management for service operations
- Platform Technologies & BSS Vendor Platforms
- Open source workflow engines (Temporal)
- Stream/batch processing (Flink, Spark)
- Test automation: Robot Framework and BDD - can review BDD robot files
- BSS vendor platforms: Salesforce, Amdocs, Ciena
- BSS/OSS proficiency: awareness of Product Catalogue, CPQ, SOM, EPC and their interactions
- Telecom domain knowledge: basic knowledge of WAN, overlay and security products
