Supplier Relationship Manager

We’re working with an organisation playing a pivotal role in delivering clean, sustainable energy solutions across the North West. They are investing in innovation and infrastructure to support regional decarbonisation and future energy needs — and they’re looking for a Supplier Relationship Manager to join their Commercial team in the North West.
We currently have an opportunity for a Supplier Relationship Manager based in Stockport or Preston to join an award winning organisation within the energy sector.
Our Role
This is a pivotal position within the Commercial Services team. The Supplier Relationship Manager will be responsible for embedding and delivering a robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategy, working across indirect categories within a regulated environment.
The role requires overseeing relationship strategy, commercial performance, and governance for critical supplier partnerships. You will play a key role in building supplier confidence, driving innovation, and ensuring our SRM approach is strategic, compliant, and adds measurable value across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead quarterly business reviews and strategic supplier meetings
- Implement and embed a regulated-compliant SRM strategy
- Intervene and resolve relationship breakdowns with key partners
- Drive supplier performance and innovation through SLA and KPI oversight
- Act as the key link between procurement, sourcing, and internal stakeholders
- Champion governance and best practice in supplier contract management
Who We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in Supplier Relationship Management within a regulated industry
- Strong background in change management and transformation
- Ability to manage internal relationships and influence senior stakeholders
- Experience in managing supplier KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations
- High emotional intelligence – able to rebuild team trust and collaboration
- Strong communication style – calm, credible, and engaging
Desirable
- Background in procurement or experience managing supplier portfolios in IT/indirect categories
- Experience transitioning teams or functions (e.g., from IT to Procurement)
Key Challenges
- SRM currently operates in a silo and needs to become more strategic
- Procurement function is newly formed and still finding its feet – requiring careful navigation and political awareness
- The team has transitioned from IT to Procurement ownership – making change management essential

- Embed and elevate SRM across Procurement and the wider business
- Deliver savings through strategic IT contract renewals and renegotiations
- Build capability and governance across top critical suppliers
- Enhance business assurance and risk controls
- Execute and track objectives-based performance management for suppliers
