Procurement Heads are working on a critical assignment with a National Operator responsible for improving resilience across UK Energy Supply, securing sustainable, independent and affordable power for future generations.

Overview

Deliver front end commercial strategy within existing procurement team working on complex and challenging infrastructure programmes. In this role you will deliver procurement sourcing for 1-2 strategic tenders at a time, identifying the best sourcing strategies, and leading events from market engagement through to contract award. Exceptional project management of strategic tenders is required, keeping the sourcing team on track through communication and maintenance of key project management documentation, such as RAID logs, project plans, project reporting and RACIs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading ‘Network Services’ tenders.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills and ability to build collaborative relationships quickly.
  • Ensuring cost-effective and greener energy procurement through advanced agreements with generators, avoiding expensive on-the-day market purchases.
  • Procuring balancing services for the UK energy system.
  • Maintaining governance and compliance while ensuring cost efficiency.
  • Supporting continuity during the team’s strategic focus on new categories.
  • Managing complex service agreements with generators (10-year contracts, multi-billion-pound value).
  • Navigating technical and regulatory complexity (OffGen regulations, power systems engineering concepts).
  • Working closely with engineering, operability, and customer teams to translate technical requirements into procurement strategies.
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships while challenging assumptions and ensuring commercial rigor.

Experience required:

  • Experience in regulated or highly governed procurement environments (utilities, government, energy sector preferred).
  • Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Background in energy, utilities, or construction.

Hybrid Working [mostly remote] 4 days a month on site Warwick/Woking
