Procurement Heads are recruiting a Buyer for a dynamic and innovative company within electromechanical manufacturing. This organisation is growing quickly via acquisition and is looking to further enhance their strategic procurement capabilities by recruiting an additional passionate and skilled Category Buyer.
Hybrid working with offices in Fareham, Hampshire.
The Buyer will be responsible for negotiation, supplier management, and procurement of sheet metalwork, machined parts, IT hardware, and cable assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:- Support Procurement Strategy: Assist in developing and implementing procurement strategies for specific product categories, including metal and electronics. Monitor and report progress.
- Market Research: Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities. Monitor commodity pricing trends and adapt procurement strategies accordingly.
- Supplier Negotiation and Administration: Negotiate and maintain supplier agreements, ensuring contractual compliance. Track negotiation outcomes and maintain organised records.
- Supplier Relationship Support: Manage supplier relationships, track performance, and drive resolution of supplier-related issues. Prepare and distribute supplier performance results.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams to gather business requirements and support aligned procurement activities. Facilitate regular communications across departments.
- Data Analysis and Cost Control: Perform procurement data analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities. Develop procurement plans based on historical data and maintain procurement databases.
- Compliance and Risk Awareness: Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards. Support auditing of supplier compliance documentation and participate in training sessions.
- Experience: Ideally 3+ years in procurement or supply chain roles within manufacturing environment.
- Skill Set: Familiarity with procurement systems and software, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic knowledge of ERP systems.
- Basic analytical skills and the ability to document and negotiate supplier agreements.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, friendly but assertive approach, ability to influence and persuade, passionate team player, process-driven, meticulous in documentation, self-motivated, able to multi-task, and works well under pressure.
