About Procure Partners: Procure Partners is a UK Group Purchasing Organisation (GPO) helping independent wholesalers, cash & carry operators and delivered wholesalers reduce indirect spend — packaging, courier and parcel, 3PL and warehousing, print and office supplies. Members pay nothing. We earn a commission from suppliers when members buy on our collective contracts. No minimum spend, no lock-in, no hidden fees. Typical member savings of 15–30% on their indirect cost base.
The Opportunity: We are hiring one New Business Development Manager to drive the acquisition of new members. This is a part-time, self-employed contractor engagement — not a PAYE employment role. Compensation is structured as a monthly retainer plus activation fees and trailing commission. This is a pure new business role. Account management, member renewals and audit delivery are handled by our operations team. Your focus is acquisition. Six-month target: 10–20 signed, transacting new members.
What You'll Own:
- Full ownership of the new business pipeline — from first contact to signed member
- Outbound engagement with a pre-built list of 100 named target accounts (MD, FD, Head of Operations)
- Weekly pipeline management in CRM
- Handover to the audit delivery team once a member signs — after which the account transitions to our operations function
What We Provide:
- Sales pack, case studies and target account list (already built)
- CRM access, templates and outreach sequences
- Audit and savings delivery handled by operations — you close the relationship, you do not deliver the work
- Founder fully available for pricing, contracts and edge cases
- Weekly 30-minute pipeline review
Who We're Looking For: You have spent a career inside UK independent wholesale at commercial level and have a proven track record in new business acquisition — not account management. Your profile likely matches one of these: Former National Account Manager or Sales manager at a major FMCG supplier with deep independent-channel exposure.
Essential Requirements:
- 5+ years in UK independent wholesale at senior commercial level
- Demonstrable new business track record — not pure account management
- Active personal relationships with MDs and FDs across independent wholesale today
- Comfort with consultative, finance-led selling (cost audit approach, not product promotion)
- Availability of 2–3 effective days per week
- Self-employed / contractor status (UK-based)
This Role Is Not For:
- Candidates seeking full-time employment
- Account managers without a new business track record
- Junior or mid-level Business Development professionals
- Generalist fractional consultants without specific UK wholesale network
- Anyone whose wholesale network has been inactive for 5+ years
Compensation Structure:
- Monthly retainer: £1,000
- Activation fee: £500 per signed member that begins transacting within 90 days
- Trailing commission: 25% of supplier commission from each signed member for 18 months
- Milestone bonuses: £1,500 at the 5th signed-and-transacting member; £2,500 at the 10th
A performing New Business Development Manager reaching the 6-month target should see a meaningful five-figure outcome in year one, weighted towards months 4–12. Happy to walk through the detail on the first call. Final compensation structure confirmed at offer stage based on mutual fit.
Engagement Structure:
- 90-day trial with retainer and all commission lines active from day one
- 30-day milestone: 8+ discovery meetings booked
- 90-day milestone: 2+ signed-and-transacting members, or 3+ audits in active proposal stage
- Post-trial: 12-month rolling agreement, 30-day notice either side
Selection Process:
- Introductory call — 30 minutes, mutual fit
- Working session — 60 minutes, live review of 10 MDs or FDs you would approach in the first week
- References — one former colleague, one former wholesale customer
- Offer and engagement start
