We are recruiting a small, dedicated team of Specialist Support Workers to provide high quality, person‑centred support to A, a woman currently living in her family home in Leamington Spa. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to be part of a carefully designed, relationship‑based support package. You will work closely with A, her family, and a multidisciplinary team to provide thoughtful, consistent support that helps reduce potential behaviours that challenge, lower anxiety, and enable A to live a fuller and more meaningful life.
About A
A is warm, curious, and creative, with a genuine enthusiasm for the things she loves. Her interests include musical theatre, music, Disney, anime, National Theatre productions, history, films, and much more. Sharing and exploring these interests in a way that does not feel like a demand is essential in building trust, connection, and a meaningful everyday routine. A is deeply empathetic and emotionally aware. She thrives with people who are genuine and honest, non‑judgemental, respectful and kind, able to treat her as an equal, and supportive of her autonomy. At times, A experiences emotional and psychological challenges linked to trauma. She benefits most from thoughtful, reflective, and consistent support within a calm and predictable environment. A lives at home with her family in surroundings that provide security and familiarity. With the right relationships in place, she has significant potential to continue building confidence, independence, and enjoyment in life.
The Role
As a Specialist Support Worker, you will provide one‑to‑one support both at home and in the community. You will support A to engage in activities she values and enjoys, while building and maintaining strong, trusting relationships. The role involves working collaboratively with A’s family and other involved professionals, responding calmly and consistently during periods of emotional distress, and contributing to a trauma‑informed, stable, and predictable environment. You will be part of a small, well‑led team and will engage in ongoing training, development, and reflective supervision. The role requires flexibility and the ability to adapt your approach as A’s needs evolve. There are currently no waking night shifts, although flexibility is important as the support package may develop in response to A’s needs.
About You
We are looking for someone who is compassionate, emotionally resilient, and reflective. You will be self‑aware and able to think adaptively, with the confidence to support someone experiencing significant stress or anxiety. A commitment to consistency, learning, and long‑term relationship building is essential. You should be calm, principled, and grounded, even in challenging moments, and motivated to be part of a stable, low‑turnover team. It is important that you are comfortable working at a pace led by A, guided by her readiness, needs, and sense of safety. Experience supporting individuals with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is beneficial but not essential. What matters most is your ability to build trusting relationships, your willingness to learn, and your open, reflective approach to support.
