We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our civil engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality standards across infrastructure and civil engineering projects to ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the project-specific Quality Management Plan (QMP).
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and surveillance to ensure construction works meet quality specifications and industry standards (e.g., BS EN, ISO 9001).
  • Monitor compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and assist in their preparation and review.
  • Ensure all materials, workmanship, and methods conform to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive quality documentation, including Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective/preventive actions, and audit findings.
  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and the client to manage quality-related issues.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree/HND in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in quality assurance/quality control within civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials testing, and applicable standards (e.g., BS, ISO, NHBC, etc.).
  • Knowledge of relevant UK regulations and industry best practices (CDM Regulations, Highways England standards, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • CSCS card and relevant safety qualifications (e.g., SMSTS or SSSTS) preferred.

Desirable:

  • Membership with a professional body such as ICE, CQI, or CIHT.
  • Auditor qualifications (ISO 9001 Lead/Internal Auditor).
  • Experience in major infrastructure (highways, utilities, or water projects).
