Freelance Senior P6 Planner - Water Sector
Procter Street is recruiting on behalf of a leading contractor delivering projects across the United Utilities framework and AMP8 programme. We are seeking multiple experienced P6 Planners to join a growing project delivery team supporting the successful execution of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the region.
This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional with strong contractor-side experience who can drive programme performance, support project delivery teams, and provide robust project controls across a varied portfolio of capital works.
The successful candidate will be an advanced user of Primavera P6, possess a strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, and ideally bring previous experience within the UK water sector.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed integrated project programmes using Primavera P6.
- Produce and control project schedules across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Establish and maintain baseline programmes and manage programme change control.
- Monitor progress, analyse performance, and identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities.
- Carry out critical path analysis and provide accurate forecasting and reporting.
- Support project teams with programme updates, lookaheads, and delivery planning.
- Lead planning meetings and communicate programme status to project stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with operational, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure alignment across project objectives.
- Assure and integrate sub-contractor programmes into a master programme.
- Support the management of programme requirements under NEC contracts, including programme submissions and compensation event assessments.
- Contribute to project controls best practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure planning outputs align with United Utilities framework requirements and AMP8 delivery expectations.
- Proven experience working as a Planner / Senior Planner within a contractor environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 with experience in:
- Programme development and logic sequencing
- Critical path analysis
- Progress measurement and reporting
- Baseline management and schedule control
- Resource and cost-loaded programmes
- Strong understanding and practical application of NEC contracts.
- Experience delivering complex infrastructure or utilities projects.
