Procter & Gamble (P&G) are a leading company in the manufacture of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods making some of the world’s best loved brands like Gillette, Fairy, and Oral-B. P&G has had operations in West Thurrock, Essex since the 1940s and the site is of great importance for the company making our household brands like Ariel, Fairy and Lenor.
We are looking for experienced HGV Class 1 drivers to work out of our West Thurrock Operating Centre to support freight deliveries to customers and other P&G sites across the UK. You will be part of a team supporting a 24-hour operation between Monday to Sunday. We are currently looking for a night driver (00:00 -> 01:00 Start Time) to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. All shifts are expected to normally be for 8, 10, 11, or 12 hours, but may, depending on business needs be more or less than this. They will not typically exceed 12 hours (40hrs average per week).
You will be required to execute the following operation:
- Delivering P&G products to our customers within the UK
- Equipment: curtain side drop trailer, unloading at certain customers may be required. Typical routine: Driver collects loaded trailer (palletized goods) at P&G Plant (check trailer and secure load), deliver to customer, waits until trailer unloaded and returns to P&G plant.
- Potentially shuttling between different P&G Distribution Centres in the UK. Equipment: curtain side drop trailer. Typical routine: Pick up of skeleton trailer with container, deliver to port, lift off/lift on container and deliver back to P&G Plant.
What P&G will offer you:
- Competitive Compensation: We offer a highly competitive compensation broken down as follows:
- Base Pay: £16.80 per hour
- Market Premium: £3.00 per hour for all hours worked
- Shift Premium: £4.00 per hour for unsociable hours, which are defined as: 17:00 - 07:00 (Weekdays). All hours on Saturday and Sunday.
- Overtime Pay: 1.5 times the combined rate of base pay and market premium for overtime hours worked from Monday to Saturday. 2 times the combined rate of base pay and market premium for overtime hours worked on Sundays.
Job Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- A current HGV Class 1 license and valid driver CPC
- Driven more than 50,000 miles in a Class 1 HGV
- Experience in palletized goods distribution
- No more than 6 points on your driving license and no Dangerous Driving (DD) or Drink Driving (DR) endorsements.
- Preferably: references from previous employers
