P&G has had operations in West Thurrock, Essex since the 1940s, and the site is of great importance for the company, making our household brands like Ariel, Fairy and Lenor.

We are looking for experienced HGV Class 1 drivers to work out of our West Thurrock Operating Centre to support freight deliveries to customers and other P&G sites across the UK. You will be part of a team supporting a 24‑hour operation between Monday to Sunday. We are currently looking for a night driver (00:00 – 01:00 Start Time) to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. All shifts are expected to normally be for 8, 10, 11, or 12 hours, but may, depending on business needs, be more or less than this. They will not typically exceed 12 hours (≈40 hrs average per week).

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver P&G products to our customers within the UK and shuttle between different P&G Distribution Centres in the UK.
  • Equipment: curtain side drop trailer, unloading at certain customers may be required.
  • Typical routine: Driver collects loaded trailer (palletised goods) at P&G Plant (check trailer and secure load), delivers to customer, waits until trailer unloaded and returns to P&G plant.

  • Typical routine: Pick up of skeleton trailer with container, deliver to port, lift off/lift on container and deliver back to P&G Plant.

What P&G will offer you:

  • Base Pay: £16.80 per hour
  • Market Premium: £3.00 per hour for all hours worked
  • Shift Premium: £4.00 per hour for unsociable hours, which are defined as 17:00 – 07:00 (Weekdays), all hours on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Overtime Pay: 1.5 times the combined rate of base pay and market premium for overtime hours worked from Monday to Saturday; 2 times the combined rate for overtime hours worked on Sundays.

Job Qualifications:

  • A current HGV Class 1 licence and valid driver CPC
  • 2 years of experience commercially driving Class 1 HGV
  • Experience in palletised goods distribution
  • No more than 6 points on your driving licence and no Dangerous Driving (DD) or Drink Driving (DR) endorsements
  • Preferable: references from previous employers
