We are talking big innovations, groundbreaking technology, state‑of‑the‑art labs, micro‑scale plants and a team full of inventors to make this happen.
What To Expect
During your 24‑month post‑doctoral placement, you will be entrusted to work on real projects on some of our most loved brands. This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between academic discovery and real‑world impact, applying your deep scientific knowledge to develop technologies and products used by millions of consumers every day. You will be at the forefront of analytical method development to characterize breakthrough technologies to solve consumer problems. You will leverage state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation to generate critical data, uncover new mechanistic insights, and help invent the next generation of Fabric and Home Care solutions. This role is for a scientist who thrives in the lab and is driven to solve complex analytical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute advanced laboratory experiments focused on volatile and semi‑volatile analysis using gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry (GC‑MS).
- Develop, validate, and implement novel analytical methods, particularly leveraging advanced sample introduction techniques like Headspace Solid‑Phase Microextraction (HS‑SPME) and Thermal Desorption (TD).
- Analyse and interpret complex analytical data to provide actionable insights and guide technology development for our project teams.
- Collaborate closely with a cross‑functional team of senior scientists, engineers, and product developers to drive R&D initiatives and deliver on key business objectives.
- Take ownership of critical analytical instrumentation, including routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Communicate findings effectively through technical reports, data summaries, and presentations to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Job Qualifications
What We Look For
- You must be currently enrolled in the final year of a PhD program or have recently completed a PhD (within the last 1‑2 years) in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Demonstrated expertise in gas chromatography‑mass spectrometry (GC‑MS), with a strong preference for 3+ years of hands‑on experience gained during your post‑graduate studies or other relevant work.
- Direct experience with advanced sample introduction techniques for GC‑MS, specifically Headspace Solid‑Phase Microextraction (HS‑SPME) and/or Thermal Desorption (TD) measurements.
- A strong foundation in analytical chemistry principles and a genuine passion for hands‑on laboratory work.
- Academic excellence at all stages throughout school and university education with a proven track record of independent problem‑solving and method development.
- Demonstrated technical curiosity, creativity, innovation, initiative, leadership, collaboration and communication skills.
- Evidence of achievements, particularly leadership, in academic and/or non‑academic activities, short work experience or internships are a plus.
