About Us: P&G is the world's largest consumer goods company, producing, marketing, and selling branded, high-quality, daily-use household and personal care products. Our Manchester Production Facility has been producing P&G products for over 90 years and is the main supply point for Pampers in the UK and Northern Europe. It operates a 24/7 Make, Ship and Pack Operation, with each production line capable of making up to 20 diapers every second. The technology is highly automated due to high quality and safety demands, requiring both mechanical and electrical skills to keep production running.

Job Purpose: We are offering a 3-year apprenticeship programme in partnership with Trafford College, where you will achieve a L3 EMT qualification. You will gain engineering skills following an established apprenticeship programme as you work towards becoming one of our multi-skilled shift technicians. Rotational assignments typically include our production lines, Rebuild and Ancillary departments, where there are defined expectations of capability and learning to support both business needs and apprenticeship learning expectations.

Your Apprenticeship will require you to attend college to gain qualifications to match your job role, and during college holidays, you will be required to attend site to apply what you have learned into practice. Apprentices will work alongside experienced engineers who will support and mentor you, building capability and problem-solving techniques. You will also be given responsibilities for some of our equipment and systems early on, with an expectation of continual improvement and learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Being part of a skilled and experienced team, contributing to the business from day 1.
  • Working with mechanical and electrical equipment as well as automated control systems, carrying out planned and preventative maintenance, and undertaking fault finding and diagnosis.
  • Championing continuous improvement through involvement in our Integrated Work System Programme.
  • Ensuring all activities are undertaken safely and in line with safety, quality, and internal control standards.
  • Achieving a competent level of understanding in the use of plant and equipment.
  • Using appropriate problem-solving techniques to reach end goals.
  • Becoming familiar with internal systems and being competent in their use.
  • Reporting any non-conformance, misuse, or malfunctions appropriately.
  • Showing a high level of competence post-training during the apprenticeship.

  • Competitive Salary: Starting apprentice pay - £21,084.44 per year.

Job Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade 4/C or above, including Maths, Science, and English.
  • A real interest in manufacturing and associated processes.
  • Drive, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning new skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and engage positively with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work shifts including days, nights, and weekends.

Right to Work: You will need to provide your own continuous right to work in the UK from Day 1 of employment without requiring sponsorship from P&G.
