P&G is a leading company in the manufacture of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), making some of the world's best loved brands like Gillette, Fairy and Oral B.
For 90 years, our Trafford Park site has been making products for families across the UK, and today it's the home of Pampers. Following significant new investment, we're growing our team and looking for an experienced leader with strong mechanical skills to join us as a Deputy Team Leader.
We are looking for skilled individuals with a proven track record of people and technical leadership in a fast-moving manufacturing environment to join us as Deputy Team Leaders.
What you’ll do
- Lead the production line team when the Team Leader is away, keeping performance safe, high-quality and efficient
- Find and fix complex mechanical and process problems on high-speed production lines
- Support planned maintenance and breakdown repairs
- Coach and develop team members to build skills across the shift
- Work with Engineering, Quality and Maintenance teams to improve line performance
- Make sure safety, quality and operating standards are followed every shift
Structured onboarding:
You’ll start on a days-based support team, learning our technology, systems and leadership approach through hands‑on problem-solving and maintenance work. Once you’re signed off as fully qualified, you’ll move onto shift and take on the full Deputy Team Leader role.
Shift pattern
The plant runs 24/7. After onboarding, you’ll work 12.5-hour shifts covering days and nights.
Where this can take you
New Deputy Team Leaders join our Deputy Team Leader Academy, which mixes technical, leadership and continuous-improvement training. From there, there's a clear path to Team Leader and, for those who want it, into management.
What We Offer You:
- Salary: £49,162 starting, rising to £52,414 once qualified (both include shift allowance)
- Pension: we contribute double what you put in, up to 14% company contribution of pensionable pay
- Private medical insurance (AXA Health), with the option to add your partner and children
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 29 days with seniority
- Share plan: for every P&G share you buy, we buy you another. You can contribute up to 2.5% of your salary into the Share Plan, up to a maximum of £150/ month.
- Annual Wellbeing Allowance (Flex4Me): an annual allowance £1,200 to spend on your physical, mental and financial wellbeing
- On site: free parking, free gym, subsidised restaurant, relaxation garden and occupational health support. Our site is well placed, close to bus and tram links.
- Training and coaching: formal hard and soft skill training plus day-to-day mentoring from your manager
Job Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Experience leading, supervising or coaching a team
- Strong hands‑on mechanical skills and a track record of fixing problems on the line
- Strong spoken and written English
