Procter Street is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued project wins, they are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery on a major heavy civils scheme. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a contractor known for its technical capability, collaborative culture, and long-term client relationships.
The Project
- You will take full responsibility for a substantial heavy civils package comprising:
- Bulk earthworks
- Construction of access roads
- Drainage infrastructure
- Associated infrastructure works
All works are being delivered under NEC sub-contract conditions, so experience operating within NEC frameworks is essential.
The Role
- As Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the safe, timely, and profitable delivery of the project.
- You will lead site teams, manage subcontractors, and maintain strong commercial and contractual control throughout.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full project lifecycle management from mobilisation through to completion
- Management of NEC sub-contracts (including early warnings, CE management, programme updates)
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
- Financial performance management, including forecasting and cost control
- Stakeholder and client liaison
- Leading and mentoring engineering and site management teams
Skills Required
- Proven experience delivering heavy civils projects (bulk earthworks essential)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (ideally NEC3 or NEC4)
- Experience managing drainage and road infrastructure packages
- Excellent commercial awareness and programme management capability
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Civil Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)
