Location: Office based role in Bootle, Liverpool. Procter Street are resourcing on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor operating across the highways sector and are seeking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support the delivery of infrastructure projects and maintenance programmes. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for delivering high-quality highways and infrastructure projects.

The Role

As Buyer, you will play a key role in managing procurement activities across multiple highways and civil engineering projects, ensuring materials, plant and subcontract services are sourced efficiently, commercially and in line with project requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Procuring materials, plant, and subcontract packages to support project delivery
  • Developing and maintaining strong supplier and subcontractor relationships
  • Negotiating pricing, terms, and supply agreements to achieve best value
  • Supporting project teams with procurement planning and programme requirements
  • Monitoring supplier performance, lead times, and market conditions
  • Managing purchase orders and ensuring compliance with company procedures
  • Working closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver cost-effective solutions
  • Identifying opportunities for supply chain efficiencies and cost savings

About You

  • Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within civil engineering or highways
  • Strong understanding of materials and supply chains across infrastructure projects
