We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Inside Sales Representative to join our team. This role is critical in providing exceptional service to our customers by managing orders effectively, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and keeping projects on schedule. Inside Sales Representatives are the backbone of our operation, responsible for ensuring customers receive what they need when they need it, so their projects stay productive and on time.
- Customer Interaction: Assist customers by phone and email; support walk-in customers only when assisting the counter sales team.
- Order Management: Accurately process and track customer orders, ensuring all future orders are managed and shipped promptly and correctly.
- Material Handling: Monitor material availability, ensuring items not yet in stock are received and shipped to customers efficiently and appropriately.
- Project Support: Take ownership of orders to ensure customers have the materials they need to keep their projects on time, on schedule, and productive.
- Problem Resolution: Quickly address and resolve order discrepancies, delays, or issues to maintain customer trust and satisfaction.
- Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse and purchasing teams to ensure product availability and readiness for shipment.
- Sales Processing: Prepare quotes, enter orders, and handle returns with accuracy and efficiency.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Follow-Up: Proactively monitor and follow up on open orders to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
Inside Sales Representative responsibilities will include:
- Train, develop, and coach associates in effective selling and operational processes and techniques.
- Achieve sales, gross profit, and EBITDA goals through the recruitment, development, training, coaching, evaluation, and management of branch teams.
- Determine targeted customer account potential, establish sales goals for those accounts, and hold the team accountable for achieving those goals.
- Achieve upper quartile performance in these key indicators – Revenue Growth, Gross Profit/Margin, EBITDA, and other critical productivity metrics.
- Lead development and implementation of product sales strategies for the assigned market by working with the Sales Support team to effectively sell the entire scope of a project.
- Provide a creative, simple approach to commercializing the value of PCS’s products and services to all customer segments.
- Share market and competitor information with other leaders within the organization.
- Support the training and development of our sales teams to help them effectively articulate our product and service capabilities, with the goal of increasing win rates.
- Develop branch operational talent to consistently uphold our culture of service. Measure the “metrics that matter” to ensure a best-in-class customer experience.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Prior experience in inside sales, customer service, or a related role, preferably within the construction supply or industrial distribution sectors.
- Product Knowledge: Familiarity with construction materials, tools, and supplies is highly desirable.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with a focus on active listening and understanding customer needs.
- Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with inventory management systems and basic computer applications.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to anticipate challenges and provide effective solutions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business or a related field is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or related major desired, but not required.
