Role Description The Hire Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Armagh, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day management of equipment hire operations. This role includes handling customer enquiries, preparing quotations, processing bookings, and scheduling delivery and collection of powered access equipment. The Hire Controller will liaise with clients, drivers, and the workshop team to ensure equipment availability, safe operation, and efficient turnaround. Daily tasks also involve maintaining accurate records, updating hire management systems, and monitoring utilisation to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The role requires proactive communication, problem-solving, and a strong focus on service quality and safety.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with experience handling enquiries, bookings, and client relationships.
- Experience in hire coordination, logistics, or operations administration, ideally within construction, plant hire, or powered access industries.
- Competence using computer systems and hire or CRM software, with accurate data entry and record-keeping abilities.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple requests.
- Attention to detail and a focus on safety and compliance, including familiarity with health and safety practices.
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, engineers, and colleagues as part of a collaborative, on-site team.
- Numeracy skills for preparing quotations, tracking costs, and supporting invoicing processes.
- Previous experience in a similar hire desk or scheduling role and a valid driver's licence are beneficial.
