About Us
We are a dynamic software company. Established in 2006, with a vision of helping the energy and utilities sectors improve customer experience and lower their cost to serve, using smarter process automation. Are you curious about what the future in tech holds? Do you have the drive to want to deliver great solutions for customers? If your answer is Yes, then we have an exciting opportunity as a Principal Software Engineer, where we aim to provide you with a uniquely inclusive and diverse workplace, which showcases the extraordinary in all of us, by enabling you to be the best you can be. Our promise is to put customers at the heart of everything we do; it’s part of how we live and breathe at Procode. Our hugely passionate workforce puts them at the heart of every decision we make.
What does this role involve?
As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll join an Agile team united by curiosity, collaboration, and the belief that great technology can truly make a difference. You’ll work with Python, AWS, and MariaDB to design and develop systems that keep pace with fast‑moving business needs. You’ll make key architectural decisions, drive technical strategy, and lead the engineering evolution of a platform used across the organisation. You’ll also play a central role in coaching and mentoring engineers, helping to build a culture where innovation thrives and quality is non‑negotiable. And as our product team grows, you’ll have the opportunity to step into leadership, guiding the next generation of engineering talent.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who brings a deep love for Python, AWS, and modern development practices into every conversation, every design session, and every piece of code. You’ve guided technical direction before, steering architectural decisions and elevating engineering standards. You enjoy uncovering new approaches, experimenting with fresh ideas, and finding better ways to build. What truly sets you apart is your willingness to share what you know. You take time to mentor others, celebrate their growth, and help them navigate challenges. You recognise that great products come from great people. Agile environments energise you. You understand how Scrum can bring structure and freedom at the same time, and you adapt quickly to changing needs. When a complex problem appears, you never shy away. You listen, you question, you clarify, and you bring solutions that make sense to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders alike.
And what is the technical environment?
This includes: Python software engineering, AWS, Docker, MariaDB, Jira, Azure DevOps Git Repositories and Pipelines, and Agile. This role may involve on‑call working on a rota basis (24/7). To be successful in this role you may be required to pass an enhanced security vetting process.
