Working within a collaborative R&D environment, you will play a key role in developing and improving molecular assays, diagnostic workflows, and supporting technologies that have the potential to transform healthcare outcomes.
Proclinical is seeking a Molecular Biology Assistant to support laboratory-based research, product development activities, and routine production processes across multiple scientific teams focused on molecular diagnostics innovation.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and optimisation of molecular biology assays and diagnostic workflows for advanced molecular diagnostics platforms.
- Assist with the design, execution, and analysis of laboratory experiments to support product development programmes.
- Perform routine laboratory and production activities across molecular biology, assay development, sequencing, and related scientific disciplines.
- Generate accurate, high-quality experimental data while adhering to established protocols and timelines.
- Maintain detailed experimental records using electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).
- Analyse experimental results and communicate findings to project teams.
- Troubleshoot laboratory experiments and contribute to the resolution of technical challenges.
- Ensure all documentation is completed in accordance with ISO 13485 quality management standards and internal procedures.
- Contribute ideas to improve laboratory processes, assay performance, and diagnostic platform development.
- Support additional R&D activities as required.
Key Skills and Requirements
- BSc degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, or a related life sciences discipline.
- At least 1+ years working, laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR, nucleic acid extraction, DNA/RNA analysis, or related methodologies gained through industry, internships, placements, or research projects.
- Ability to perform laboratory experiments accurately, analyse data, and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Experience maintaining laboratory records using electronic lab notebook systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing reliable, high-quality scientific data.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Positive and flexible attitude towards both research-driven and routine laboratory work.
- Knowledge of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), sequencing workflows, or molecular diagnostics technologies would be advantageous but is not essential.
