An innovative diagnostics company is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the development and production of next-generation molecular diagnostic technologies. The organisation is developing advanced diagnostic platforms that combine microelectronics, molecular biology, and automation to deliver rapid, actionable clinical insights. Their technology is designed to bring high‑content genomic testing closer to the point of care, significantly reducing time‑to‑result compared to traditional laboratory methods.
This is a hands‑on laboratory role, positioned at the interface of IVD development, medtech engineering, and molecular assay workflows.
The RoleYou will support laboratory operations critical to the delivery of a fully integrated, sample‑to‑result diagnostic platform, contributing to both quality control and production activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing quality control (QC) of incoming components, including integrated circuits (ICs) and printed circuit boards (PCBs) used within diagnostic instrumentation
- Supporting production workflows, including preparation of materials and surface chemistry processes associated with assay development
- Executing laboratory protocols in line with strict SOPs and quality standards (e.g. ISO 13485 environments)
- Contributing to the preparation and supply of functional components and consumables used in diagnostic testing systems
- Supporting inventory management and demand forecasting for critical components
- Assisting with the receipt, handling, and dispatch of sensitive laboratory and device‑related materials
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across assay development, engineering, and quality
- Supporting instrument qualification and maintenance, working alongside engineering teams on bespoke diagnostic platforms
- Maintaining accurate experimental records and QC documentation, ensuring traceability within a regulated environment
- Identifying and troubleshooting technical issues in laboratory workflows and production processes
This role is well suited to a technically minded scientist who is interested in working at the intersection of molecular biology and diagnostic device development. We are particularly interested in candidates with:
- A BSc in Biosciences or a related discipline
- Experience working in a wet‑lab or applied laboratory environment
- Exposure to IVD, diagnostics, medtech, or regulated laboratory environments (highly advantageous)
- Strong core lab skills, including accurate pipetting and handling of biological samples
- An understanding of working within structured, quality‑driven environments
- Experience recording experimental work (e.g. electronic lab notebooks, reports)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- A detail‑oriented, methodical approach with strong numerical skills
- Ability to work on repetitive, high‑precision tasks with consistency
- Strong communication and organisational skills
This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting‑edge diagnostic technologies that aim to transform how diseases are detected and managed.
