The Opportunity: Are you ready to advance your engineering career? Our client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering Design Team. This role offers the chance to work on key projects in the water and wastewater sector, where your skills will have a meaningful impact.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure all design outputs meet technical standards and quality, acting as the main checker for quality control.
  • Identify effective solutions and designs that balance costs.
  • Work with the Principal Designer Lead to ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Design for safe construction and operation, collaborating with project delivery teams.
  • Support staff development towards professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IET, IMechE, IChemE).

Competency Requirements:

  • Experience in a contracting or consulting environment with strong commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering design in the water sector.
  • Over 7 years of experience in the Municipal Water and Wastewater Industries, working with various clients.
  • Ability to review subcontractor documentation.
  • Familiarity with current health and safety legislation and British Standards.
  • Experience with QA and H&S procedures.

Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Chartered membership of a recognised professional engineering body is preferred.
