Job Title: General Foreman Contractor: Leading Civil Engineering Contractor Location: Thames Valley Region Hybrid Working: On Site Reports To: Project Manager Division: Construction Client Overview – General Foreman: My client is a prominent player in the UK’s building, infrastructure, engineering, and fit-out sectors. They are dedicated to delivering vital projects across a variety of sectors, including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water, and the environment. Purpose of the Role – General Foreman: In the role of General Foreman, you will spearhead construction phase activities, ensuring compliance with top-tier health, safety, and environmental standards. You will work alongside industry leaders and contribute to innovative advancements in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) in collaboration with Thames Water and other strategic partners. Key Accountabilities – General Foreman: Risk Management: Collaborate with the Project Manager to assess and mitigate risks, ensuring comprehensive site security. Procurement Leadership: Oversee the procurement process for suppliers and contractors, adhering to best commercial practices. Compliance Assurance: Ensure the site meets all external compliance audit standards. Operational Coordination: Plan and manage the seamless delivery of projects, facilitating effective communication among the site team, clients, and contractors. Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain regular communication with clients and stakeholders, attending meetings to foster strong relationships. Competency Requirements – General Foreman: Proven experience with a major Civil Engineering Contractor, particularly in water or major highways projects. Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety regulations, and various construction techniques. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff, promoting a positive organisational image. Specific expertise may be required depending on the project.
