THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced bids and proposals professional to join Procast at a pivotal moment in our growth journey. You will take ownership of our end-to-end bid process from opportunity identification through to final submission, playing a central role in shaping how we present Procast to clients and securing the contracts that drive our business forward.

You will lead and develop a talented proposals team, bringing out the best in each individual while building the structure, discipline and creative energy needed to compete and win in a demanding marketplace. This is a role for someone who loves the craft of persuasive writing, thrives under deadline pressure and is energised by the prospect of growing both a team and a business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bid Writing and Proposal Quality
    • Lead the writing, editing and production of high quality, compelling tender submissions and proposals across all sectors.
    • Identify, develop and articulate win themes that clearly differentiate Procast and resonate with each client's priorities.
    • Translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive narrative that answers the question being asked and tells a coherent story.
    • Ensure all submissions are accurate, on brand, well-structured and submitted on time.
  • Bid Management and Process
    • Own and manage the full bid lifecycle from launch through to submission and debrief.
    • Implement and maintain a robust bid launch, review and sign off process, ensuring all stakeholders understand their role and deadlines are met without exception.
    • Maintain a clear bid programme and support pipeline tracker, providing regular progress updates to line manager.
    • Conduct post submission debriefs to capture lessons learned and feed continuous improvement back into the process.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Lead, motivate and develop the existing proposals team, creating a high performance culture built on collaboration, quality and accountability.
    • Work autonomously and confidently sign off submissions, ensuring the highest standards at all times.
    • Provide regular coaching, feedback and mentoring to support the professional growth and career ambitions of each team member.
    • Identify skills gaps and opportunities for development, working with Business Growth Director to put appropriate support and training plans in place.
    • Foster a positive, enthusiastic team environment where great work is recognised and people feel invested in the success of the business.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Business Development
    • Work closely with operational, commercial and senior leadership teams to gather the insight and evidence needed to build winning bids.
    • Build strong relationships across the business to ensure the proposals function is embedded, valued and well-supported.
    • Contribute to pre qualification submissions, expression of interest documents and market positioning activity.
    • Support the wider business development strategy and help identify opportunities that align with Procast's growth ambitions.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience in a bid writing or proposals management role, ideally within construction, retrofit and property services or a related sector.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a portfolio of successful tender submissions that are not reliant on AI.
  • Strong understanding of win theme development and the ability to craft compelling, client-focused narratives.
  • Ability to lead tender launch meetings to identify and articulate clear win themes reflecting ITT requirements and win probabilities.
  • Experience managing and developing a team, with a genuine commitment to people development.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders and able to challenge constructively to improve the quality of submissions.
  • APMP qualification or equivalent bid management accreditation.
  • Experience of public sector procurement frameworks, including Scottish and UK Government tendering environments.
  • Familiarity with pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and the full OJEU/Find a Tender process.
  • Experience implementing or improving bid management systems and content libraries.
