WHO WE ARE:
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 16,000 staff and providing over 100 specialist services. Serving a population of around 500,000 people living in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, we are focused on the health and care needs of our local population whilst also working with our partners to develop regional services.
Our mission is "Living Well, Caring Well, Working Together". We have recently refreshed our strategy, Shaping Our Future Wellbeing, which sets out the Health Board’s Vision for improving the health and wellbeing of the populations we serve by 2035 through the delivery of our strategic objectives; Putting People First, Providing Outstanding Quality, Delivering in the Right Places, and Acting for the Future.
Main duties of the job:
- To assess patient care needs independently and to develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care, exercising professional judgement and accountability without the need for direct supervision.
- To demonstrate, supervise, and support clinical practice and procedures for both registered and unregistered nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care.
- To take a lead role in the induction, mentorship, and ongoing supervision of newly appointed and unregistered staff, contributing to their professional development and ensuring compliance with organisational and professional standards.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work within the busy Outpatients environment, based across two acute sites: University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough. The successful candidate will be expected to work on an ad hoc or rotational basis, depending on service requirements and/or professional development needs.
The post holder will be required to demonstrate an interest in working across a variety of clinical specialties. Opportunities will be provided to support clinics in a broad range of services, which currently include:
- Infectious Diseases
- Surgery (General, Colorectal, Vascular and Plastic)
- Haematology
- Respiratory
- Cardiology
This list is not exhaustive. Working across such a wide spectrum of specialties offers an excellent opportunity to develop a broad skill set and enhance clinical knowledge. Ongoing learning and development will be supported through bespoke training programmes alongside practical, on-the-job instruction.
Applicants must demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in an Outpatient setting would be advantageous; however, full training and support will be provided. A clear commitment to ongoing professional development is essential.
We are committed to promoting inclusion, where all staff have a sense of belonging. We welcome applications from everyone and recognise the need for our workforce to represent the diversity of the population we serve. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment where staff treat one another with dignity and respect and where diversity is celebrated.
To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route.
