A leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced SHE Manager / HSE Manager to support a major Highways Asset & Maintenance programme. This is a 6-month contract opportunity working within an established Safety, Health & Environmental team, supporting operational teams across highway maintenance and infrastructure projects. The role will be based from Chester, with travel across operational sites where required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Safety, Health & Environmental leadership across highways maintenance operations
- Conduct site inspections, audits and safety tours
- Support operational teams in complying with ISO management systems
- Ensure compliance with National Highway Sector Schemes
- Monitor incidents through EcoOnline and analyse trends
- Support and lead internal SHE audits
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented across projects
- Deliver SHE briefings, coaching and training
- Support the development of SHE procedures and policies
- Promote a positive safety culture across operational teams
Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate (essential)
- Chartered IOSH (CMIOSH) or PIEMA desirable
- Background in Civil Engineering / Infrastructure / Construction
- Minimum 5 years SHE / HSE experience
- Experience within Highways Maintenance or Infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, National Highway Sector Schemes
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
