About the Company: We are recruiting on behalf of a leading provider of critical power solutions. Established for over 3 years, they specialise in the design, manufacture, and delivery of high-performance power systems and power infrastructure for blue-chip commercial clients and utility companies, and DNOs across the UK. With a strong reputation for technical innovation and reliability, they are growing and looking to expand their design team with an experienced and proactive Design Engineer.
The Role: As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and optimising bespoke power system designs tailored to client requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. The role includes technical specification, site assessments, and supporting implementation alongside the wider engineering and project teams.
- Design and engineer electrical power systems to meet client requirements.
- Knowledge of electrical substation applications would be an advantage.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to define project scopes.
- Select components, perform system sizing, and develop system configurations.
- Create technical proposals, drawings, BOMs, and cost estimates.
- Collaborate with sales, project managers, and field technicians during delivery.
- Ensure designs meet all applicable standards (IEC, BS, EN).
- Provide technical support throughout installation and commissioning.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and innovations in power systems.
Required Skills & Experience:
- HNC/Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience designing power systems (advantageous).
- Experience of design power generation or electrical distribution equipment and enclosures (essential).
- Transferrable skills would be switchgear, generators, back up power.
- Knowledge of batteries, inverters, rectifiers, ATS, and associated hardware.
- Familiarity with power system analysis tools (load flow, voltage drop, etc).
- Understanding of utility/substation and DNOs is highly advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Membership of a professional body such as IET (desirable).
Salary & Benefits:
- £40,000 - £50,000 per annum (depending on experience).
