The Role
As an Applications Engineer, you will work closely with the Sales and Technical teams to develop fully costed, technically accurate solutions tailored to customer requirements. You'll be part of a small, collaborative team responsible for translating customer needs into winning bids for both products and services. You will be trained at the company's centre of excellence, where you'll learn directly from some of the industry's most experienced engineers and develop deep knowledge of the company's UPS technology. The role also offers flexibility with hybrid/remote working.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret customer specifications and translate them into technical proposals
- Create cost make-ups and produce accurate quotes for industrial UPS solutions
- Assist the Sales team during client meetings and project negotiations
- Support tendering activities, including occasional site surveys
- Ensure smooth handover to Project Management and Engineering teams
- Provide ongoing technical support through the lifecycle of awarded projects
Ideal Candidate Profile
Must Have:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 1-2 years' post-qualification experience in a power-related role (design, applications, etc.)
- If not familiar with UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) then electrical systems design experience is a minimum requirement.
- Strong IT and documentation skills (Excel, Word, technical specs)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for learning and working collaboratively in a technical team
Desirable:
- Experience with industrial UPS systems or electrical installations into substations or industrial applications.
- Familiarity with critical power environments (utilities, rail, renewables, oil & gas)
- Strong commercial awareness and customer engagement ability
