An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil & Structures Manager to take a senior role delivering capital civil engineering and structures projects across a major long-term highways maintenance contract in Cheshire. Working for an established international infrastructure organisation, you'll take responsibility for the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of civil engineering, bridge and highway structures schemes. This is a senior operational position combining project delivery, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), commercial awareness, client management and leadership of multidisciplinary delivery teams. You'll work closely with the Local Authority client, operational teams, commercial colleagues, subcontractors and supply chain partners to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading highways, civil engineering, bridge and structures projects
- Working collaboratively with the client during ECI and scheme development
- Managing project programmes, resources, budgets and delivery performance
- Coordinating direct labour, Supervisors, subcontractors and supply chain partners
- Working with Commercial teams on procurement, quotations, NEC contract administration and cost/value performance
- Managing project risks and identifying commercial and operational opportunities
- Maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Providing visible leadership and developing operational teams
- Ensuring compliance with CDM, HSEQ requirements, risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Driving continuous improvement, quality, sustainability and a right-first-time approach
About You
We're looking for an experienced civil engineering or construction professional with a proven background delivering projects within highways, bridges, structures or associated infrastructure. You'll be comfortable taking ownership of projects from pre-construction through delivery and will have experience managing multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, programmes, budgets and client relationships. You'll ideally bring experience of NEC contracts and working within a live highways, infrastructure or maintenance environment. An ONC, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or Construction is essential. Chartered Engineer status or equivalent structures experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Previous experience within Local Authority highways, term maintenance, bridge maintenance, structural renewals or major highways frameworks would be particularly relevant.
