Probus Parish Council is seeking a Clerk / Responsible Financial Officer, preferably with a CiLCA qualification and previous experience of these roles. Applicants with a good standard of further education and willingness to study for and achieve a CiLCA qualification are also encouraged to apply. This is a permanent part-time post for 20 hours per week.
The role will be a combination of remote working and community-based and will require attendance at evening Parish Council meetings in Probus. The salary for the post, depending on experience/qualifications, will be in accordance with the National Local Government Spinal Column LC2 points 18 – 30 (£16.35 – £21.14).
An interest in and/or affinity with Probus as a neighbourhood & community is an important part of the role.
Responsibilities:
- The Clerk to the Council will be the Proper Officer of the Council and is under a statutory duty to carry out all the functions required by law of a Local Authority's Proper Officer.
- The Clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the instructions of the Council, in connection with its function as a Local Authority, are carried out.
- The Clerk is expected to advise the Council on, and assist in the formation of, overall policies to be followed in respect of the Authority's activities and to produce all the information required for making effective decisions.
- The person appointed will be accountable to the Council for the effective management of all its resources and will report to them as and when required.
- The Clerk will be responsible for all the financial records of the Council and the careful administration of its finances.
