Dry Lining Specialist Contractor
Are you an aspiring Quantity Surveyor looking to build a strong foundation in commercial surveying, contract support and cost control? We’re recruiting for a Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor role that’s perfect for someone with a BSc in Quantity Surveying and some on‑site experience, or a current degree student attending day release. This is a fantastic entry opportunity to work hands‑on alongside an experienced QS within dry lining projects across Manchester and Leeds.
Opportunity
As a Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll step directly into a supportive environment where learning and progression are built into your day. You’ll shadow a proven Quantity Surveyor and assist in delivering cost‑effective solutions across a range of live dry lining contracts. You’ll gain exposure to commercial management, measurement, valuations, subcontractor engagement and site cost monitoring. You’ll be based between Manchester and Leeds — ideally living within easy travel distance of both — and comfortable travelling to sites as required. This isn’t a role for someone with more than two years’ QS experience; instead, it’s a genuine growth role for early career candidates with ambition.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the lead Quantity Surveyor on measurement and valuation tasks
- Assisting with preparation of interim valuations and cost reports
- Helping manage subcontract packages and variations
- Attending site progress meetings and capturing commercial data
- Building strong relationships with project teams and subcontractors
- Contributing to commercial control and reporting
What’s in it for the Candidate
This Trainee / Assistant Quantity Surveyor role gives you structured development, combining practical site exposure with commercial acumen. You’ll receive support for professional training — including course fees funded where needed — giving you the tools to progress confidently in the QS discipline. You’ll benefit from a competitive base salary of £25,000, a car allowance and fuel support — reflecting the travel element of the role between key project locations. Most importantly, you’ll work within a collaborative environment where your contribution matters, and where progression is supported every step of the way.
If you’re ready to bring your experience in quantity surveying to a forward‑thinking company, we want to hear from you. Apply today, and we will contact you within 3 working days if your application has been shortlisted.
