A leading specialist PFP / fire protection contracting division has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist PFP (Passive Fire Protection) division that is scaling rapidly. You’ll step into a pivotal role from day one, owning the commercial function for PFP projects and shaping how we win, deliver, and grow. If you have PFP experience — or come from a Contracts Manager / Operations background with pricing strength — this could be your chance to lead and build something exceptional.

Opportunity

  • You will be the sole QS in the PFP division, holding full responsibility for pricing, commercial control, and margin delivery.
  • As the business wins more work, there is scope to grow a small team and — eventually — step into a Commercial Manager role.
  • You’ll be front and centre of the division’s growth, freeing up contract managers and senior leadership to focus on delivery and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of pricing and cost estimating for PFP enquiries and tenders.
  • Ensure accurate, proactive pricing that reflects risk, resource, and margin goals.
  • Drive margin performance and commercial discipline across projects.
  • Identify trends or root causes in returns or pricing losses (e.g. fire risk assessments or PFP-specific risk items).
  • Collaborate with Contracts Managers, design and operations teams to validate assumptions.
  • Support negotiation with clients and subcontractors to protect commercial position.
  • Monitor change control, variations, and ensure commercial clarity on all projects.
  • Produce (or lead the production of) cost reports, forecasts, and commercial insights as needed.
  • Mentor or recruit future team members as the division grows.

What’s in it for you

  • You will lead the entire QS / pricing function for a PFP division — immediate autonomy and influence.
  • A clear pathway to Commercial Manager as new work comes in.
  • Supportive leadership wanting you to succeed, with resource and budget to expand.
  • Exposure to a diverse pipeline of 24 live PFP projects across multiple sites.
  • The chance to play a key role in shaping strategy, systems, and processes.
  • Competitive salary up to £60,000 plus benefits.

If you’re ready to bring your experience in construction / PFP / commercial management to a forward‑thinking company, we want to hear from you. Apply today, and we will contact you within 3 working days if your application has been shortlisted.
