TOOLROOM ENGINEER REQUIRED!!!

We are seeking a TOOLROOM ENGINEER, to strengthen our Toolroom.

We're looking for a skilled Tooling Engineer to take ownership of the repair, maintenance, and enhancement of tooling, dies, jigs, fixtures, and fittings used across our production lines. You'll play a key role in driving process improvements that boost output, reduce downtime, and support continuous manufacturing excellence.

COMMUTABLE FROM: – Studley, Redditch, Birmingham, Halesowen, Moseley, Hollywood, Droitwich, Henley-in-Arden, Stratford-upon-Avon and Alcester

DUTIES

  • Carry out manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of all tooling and fixtures.
  • Recommend and implement tooling improvements, including SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) techniques.
  • Lead process enhancements that improve efficiency and output across production areas.
  • Perform routine servicing and regrinding of press tools following last-off procedures.
  • Respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and carry out timely repairs to minimise production interruptions.
  • Evaluate whether tooling issues can be resolved in-press or require transfer to the tool room.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for repair tasks and flag potential risks to timelines.
  • Report root causes of breakdowns, equipment faults, and operational concerns to management

REQUIREMENTS

  • Trained to use all Toolroom machinery and equipment
  • Good understanding of engineering problems
  • Toolmaking experience
  • To have the ability to re-grind
  • SMED techniques
  • Apprentice trained
  • Strong sense of ownership you see problems through to resolution.
  • Proactive mindset with a solution-focused approach.
