Technical Documentation Engineer Salary and Benefits * £36,000 – £38,000 (dependant on experience) * 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday * 23 days holiday, increasing with service, plus statutory, Life Assurance, Profit related pay Commutable From: Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Chesterfield, Sheffield Technical Documentation Engineer Role Function * This Technical Documentation Engineer opening is a new role, working within the company’s busy Technical Services team. * You will create and maintain high quality SOP’s (standard operating procedures), installation / user manuals and the creation of drawings/models for product fabrications to be used by the installation and production operatives. Technical Documentation Engineer Candidate Requirements * Proven experience creating and maintaining high quality SOP’s (standard operating procedures), installation / user manuals. * Able to CAD solutions using Solidworks – Use basic drawing standards (BS8888 & ISO128). * Skilled engineer able to employ engineering devices to investigate and resolve product issues i.e. using problem solving devices such as 8D or 5 Why’s. * Able to communicate and liaise with stakeholders to bring about a satisfactory conclusion. * Familiarity with engineering design principals and measuring tools. * Liaising with the manufacturing, machining, sub-assembly and assembly departments to validate communication tools (such as SOP’s, work instructions and process risks). * Familiarity with engineering manufacturing techniques i.e. machine tools, pressing, bending, cutting, vacuum forming, injection moulding, casting etc Technical Documentation Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to) * Ensure the generation of technical materials that are required to facilitate the delivery of product to market in a timely manner, with input from quality, production and in-service feedback. * Work with the design team to create 3D models and SOP’s for new dedicated illustration kits for all group products. * Create work instructions and SOP’s to assist the production line and production manager to be used for training and manufacturing on sub-assemblies and assembled products. * Create or revise user and installation manuals for any new or existing products brought to market by any of the group’s brands. * Manage and implement change through documented processes and communicate with other departments to deal with enquiries both efficiently and effectively. * Create an illustrated parts catalogue (IPC) to assist every department determine product parts and codes. * Provide input to the FMEA and NPI documentation, to lower risks scores via the use of agreed format documentation and communication tools.
