Manufacturing Project Engineer Salary and Benefits

  • Salary £46,400
  • 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (with an earlier finish on Friday's)
  • Some flexitime working

Manufacturing Project Engineer Role Function

Are you a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who enjoys taking manufacturing projects from idea through to installation and commissioning?
We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join the Projects Team at the Derbyshire manufacturing site, delivering a range of CAPEX, plant improvement and manufacturing engineering projects.
Projects can range from around £10k to £500k, with larger investments of £1m+ planned for the future.
You will have responsibility for taking projects from concept and business case through procurement, contractor management, installation, commissioning and handover.

Manufacturing Project Engineer Candidate Requirements

Important - candidates must have 'Permanent UK Right to Work'

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification with 5+ year's experience in a manufacturing, process or automated production environment.
  • Proven experience delivering capital investment projects from concept to hand over; ideally involving plant, machinery or site infrastructure.
  • Experience managing contractors, suppliers and equipment manufacturers, from quotation through to installation and commissioning.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety, with experience using or creating AutoCAD drawings and competent Microsoft Office skills.
  • A proactive, organised engineer with strong communication, problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

Manufacturing Project Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

  • Manage multiple CAPEX and engineering projects from concept through to completion, including budgets, schedules and business cases.
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier/contractor quotations, manage contractors and ensure projects are delivered safely.
  • Control project costs, monitor progress and provide regular updates to key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate installation, commissioning and handover of new equipment and plant.
  • Deliver projects that improve plant reliability, safety, manufacturing capacity and efficiency, including developing and using AutoCAD drawings.
