This highly acclaimed global manufacturer seeks an experienced, meticulous and forward-thinking Buyer/Purchaser to join a high-performing procurement team who thrive on the delivery of exceptional customer service outcomes. This pivotal role involves sourcing premium quality finished goods, purchasing of raw materials and components, and production supplies—ensuring optimal vendor terms. Responsible for the timely delivery and seamless alignment with manufacturing and production schedules.
As a key member of our supply chain success, you will champion cost-efficiency, maintain critical inventory and stock levels, and cultivate robust supplier partnerships that support operational agility and long-term growth across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities- Reporting to the Purchasing and Materials Manager and wider team, you will identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, quality products, and delivery terms.
- Source quality materials and components in line with manufacturing and technical specifications and all production requirements.
- Collaborate with the production planning team to ensure timely material availability and supply.
- Monitor inventory and stock levels, initiating purchase orders to meet demand.
- Oversee delivery timelines to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
- Assess supplier performance and maintain accurate vendor records, liaising with the supply chain to ensure that KPI’s and service levels are enforced and delivered.
- Partner with internal teams (e.g., production, sales, customer services and distribution) to forecast procurement needs.
- Prepare and manage purchase orders and associated documentation, working with MS Office – Outlook, Excel and SAP ERP system.
- Track procurement indicators including cost savings, delivery reliability, and supplier responsiveness.
- Ensure compliance with import regulations, shipping and customs procedures.
- Proven experience in procurement within manufacturing or industrial environments – a minimum of 3-5 years previous, relevant employment expertise.
- Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and production processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in procurement software; SAP and Excel experience highly desirable.
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Creative and resourceful approach to cost optimisation.
- Experience sourcing a variety of metals and material commodities.
