Multi-Site Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)

Location: Lincolnshire & Melbourn

Salary and Working Hours

• Salary: Up to £52,000 per year.
• Hours: Monday to Friday, day shift, working 8.5 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
• Travel expenses: A mileage allowance is expected due to the regular travel required

The successful candidate will primarily support ProAmpac's manufacturing sites across Lincolnshire (Lincoln, Grimsby and Elsham) and Melbourn.

The role requires:

• Working approximately 2-3 days per week at the Melbourn site.
• Working the remaining days across the Lincolnshire sites based on business requirements.
• Providing holiday and absence cover in Melbourn, which may require full working weeks on site.
• Staying overnight in Melbourn when required (typically 1-2 nights per week).
• Travelling regularly between sites.

About the Role

ProAmpac is looking for a highly motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to support multiple manufacturing facilities across Lincolnshire and Melbourn.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys variety, autonomy and working across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and equipment.
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults on production and ancillary equipment.
• Troubleshooting motors, drives, PLC-controlled systems, sensors and control panels.
• Responding quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Conducting inspections, testing and fault-finding activities.
• Supporting machinery installations, upgrades and commissioning activities.
• Maintaining building services and site utilities.
• Recording maintenance activities accurately using maintenance systems and documentation.
• Working closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Ensuring spare parts are appropriately managed and controlled.
• Following all health, safety, environmental and food safety procedures.
• Providing engineering support across multiple ProAmpac sites as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing.
• Multi-skilled maintenance engineering experience, with a strong electrical bias and sound mechanical capability.
• Experience fault-finding on production machinery.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment.
• Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel regularly between sites and stay overnight when required.

Desirable

• Engineering apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.
• Experience within the packaging industry is preferred; experience in food or other fast-paced manufacturing environments will also be considered.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience maintaining and fault-finding across a range of machinery, with the ability to adapt to different equipment and processes at each site.
• Experience using CMMS or maintenance management systems.
