Company: ProAmpac London is an award winning, global market leader in food-to-go packaging. It combines technical, creative and commercial expertise to design and manufacture revolutionary food packaging. Most of the UK supermarkets and high street coffee shops feature amongst ProAmpac London’s impressive client list. ProAmpac is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio with several other locations across the USA. The London office based in Wimbledon is home to the design and technical centre with manufacturing capabilities for Europe located in Ireland. Due to continued growth, the Company is seeking an Account Manager to join the team.
The business currently employs four Channel Managers concentrating mainly on the UK market. The Channel Managers provide both customer sales support and undertake internal administration including stock management, sales orders processing and organising order fulfilment. In addition, the Channel Managers provide support to field sales staff on business development through providing quotations and samples to customers. The role requires a significant amount of communication with both customers and colleagues verbally and in writing.
The Channel Manager will report to the Business Unit Manager and will have significant contact with other departments in the business including design, artwork and finance. The main functions undertaken by the Channel Managers are mainly sales support and administrative functions and are summarised below.
- Support the dedicated Sales Director Europe, Fibre-Based Products located in Germany.
- The European Channel Manager will act as the business’ point of contact for the following sales support functions:
- Contact person for European customer supplying quotations.
- Organising deliveries, samples & trials.
- Overall order management, handling NBOs & CRM system.
- Coordinating new product designs and changes to artwork.
- Managing the critical path for product launches with customers.
- Arranging technical support from the UK should this be necessary.
In each case the Channel Manager will be reliant on other departments in the business to provide information.
Existing business and repeat orders involve coordination of the customer requirements with the lead times to manufacture products and ensure that the appropriate information is included in the company’s ERP system to ensure that the customer deliveries are met on time and in full and includes Vendor Managed Inventory. The business operates vendor managed inventory for certain customers. The Channel Manager should therefore have reasonable numerical skills to enable accurate stock forecasts to be made.
Proactively seeking repeat orders. The Channel Manager will be in regular contact with the customers and be aware of their likely demand. Orders should be proactively sought from each customer to ensure sufficient time is allowed for manufacture. Other administrative functions including order processing, organising delivery times and invoicing is also undertaken by the Channel Manager.
Skills Required:
- Professional fluency in German
- Excellent communication skills (including good email writing)
- Exceptionally organised and excellent co-ordination and prioritisation skills (especially in relation to business deadlines)
- Excellent computer skills – Excel essential, Word, Outlook, Internet etc.
- Assertive individual capable of taking a balanced approach with customers
- Collaborative, team player, able to form good relationships with colleagues internally and externally.
- Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, be pro-active and take initiative, open to learning
- Knowledge of packaging industry would be advantageous, but training would be given
