We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Miller/ CNC Turner to join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce complex components to tight tolerances using Heidenhain and Siemens control systems. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail and experience working in a high-spec environment with demanding quality standards. This role reports to the Machine Shop Manager / Supervisor.

Location: Workshop-based precision machining environment. PPE required at all times. Overtime and shift work may be required depending on workload.

What you will be doing:

  • Program, set and operate CNC milling machines using Heidenhain and Siemens controls
  • Manufacture precision components to tight tolerances (micron-level where required)
  • Work from detailed engineering drawings including GD&T specifications
  • Select appropriate tooling, cutting parameters and machining strategies
  • Machine a range of materials including steels, stainless steels and exotic alloys
  • Conduct first-off inspection and in-process checks using precision measuring equipment
  • Ensure all parts meet strict quality and customer specifications
  • Optimise programs and processes to improve cycle times while maintaining quality
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs or setups accordingly
  • Maintain machines and ensure safe operation
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams for continuous improvement

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a CNC Miller/ Turner in a precision engineering environment
  • Strong experience using Heidenhain and/or Siemens controls
  • Ability to machine complex components to tight tolerances
  • Experience with 3-axis and/or 5-axis machining
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of cutting tools and machining strategies
  • Experience with inspection equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges)
  • High attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload
