This is a diverse, customer-facing position that plays a crucial role in our overall success. As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day communication and management of a small number of key customers. While the customer portfolio is deliberately focused, each account requires a high level of ownership, effort and attention to detail. Our customers are an extension of our business. As their manufacturing partner, we see ourselves as part of their shop floor. We work with approximately 20 customers, building deep, long-term working relationships with organisations that value a close and collaborative manufacturing partnership. As an Account Manager, you will be one of the people our customers interact with most. You will therefore play a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience and ensuring we consistently meet our commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the planning and coordination of customer requirements from initial placement into the factory through to final shipment.
- Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for your customers.
- Manage customer purchase orders and ensure requirements are accurately captured and communicated.
- Plan and coordinate customer orders throughout the manufacturing process, from initial factory placement through to final shipment.
- Work closely with the Buying team and Stores to ensure materials are procured and kits are cleared on time.
- Maintain regular communication with Production and Engineering teams to monitor progress, manage priorities and resolve issues.
- Manage customer schedules and ensure delivery commitments are understood and achieved.
- Provide customers with timely, accurate and proactive updates on the status of their products.
- Identify potential issues early and take ownership of resolving them before they impact the customer.
- Coordinate multiple customer requirements and projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
- Ensure customer expectations are managed effectively and that any changes to requirements, schedules or delivery dates are communicated promptly.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Experience of managing customer accounts within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing new customer accounts would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with key stakeholders and nurture strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
- Sound commercial awareness, including an understanding of how revenue and gross margin impact the business.
- Confidence to negotiate and influence decision‑making with senior stakeholders.
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while remaining composed during challenging situations.
- Experience using MRP systems.
- A strong ability to plan and manage complex customer orders.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to sense‑check commercial and operational data.
- A proactive, organised and solutions‑focused approach.
- A full, clean driving licence, as occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
