We are seeking a skilled
Maintenance Engineer to join a busy automated distribution and materials handling operation.
This role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement activities on a wide range of automated equipment to ensure maximum system availability and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and servicing of automated materials handling equipment.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and PLC-related faults.
- Prioritise faults to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.
- Perform scheduled repairs in line with manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices.
- Maintain conveyor systems, automated machinery, and associated equipment to ensure continuous product flow.
- Accurately complete maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
- Ensure spare parts are maintained at appropriate stock levels.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance.
- Work closely with operations to minimise disruption and maximise productivity.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and site procedures.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality at all times.
Requirements
- ONC, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (electrical bias preferred).
- Completed engineering apprenticeship is advantageous.
- Experience maintaining automated machinery, conveyor systems, or materials handling equipment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Basic understanding of PLC-controlled systems and automated controls.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience working to planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.
- Comfortable working at height where required.
- Good IT skills for completing maintenance records and reports.
- A logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving.
