We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and organised

Warehouse Operative to join our clients team on a PM shift basis (2.30pm-11.00pm Monday to Friday).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the warehouse and stores area, ensuring that incoming goods are received and checked accurately, stock is stored correctly, and picking and despatch activities are completed efficiently.

This is a hands-on role that requires someone who is physically capable, pays close attention to detail, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.

Previous warehouse experience, particularly in picking and goods-in , is essential.

Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of warehouse and stores activities, including:

  • Picking stock and materials accurately in accordance with orders, picking lists, or internal requirements.
  • Receiving and unloading incoming deliveries safely and efficiently.
  • Checking deliveries against purchase orders, delivery notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Counting and verifying incoming stock, including both boxed and loose items.
  • Identifying and reporting any shortages, discrepancies, damages, or incorrect deliveries.
  • Booking incoming goods onto the relevant computerised system and ensuring stock records are kept accurate and up to date.
  • Labelling, organising, and storing stock correctly within the warehouse/stores area.
  • Ensuring stock is located correctly and can be easily identified and retrieved when required.
  • Preparing stock and materials for internal departments, production, or despatch.
  • Packing items securely and appropriately for movement or delivery where required.
  • Carrying out regular stock checks and assisting with stocktakes and inventory control.
  • Maintaining accurate records of stock movements and transactions.
  • Keeping the warehouse and stores area clean, tidy, and well organised at all times.
  • Ensuring goods are stored safely and that walkways, work areas, and storage locations remain clear.
  • Moving boxes, pallets, and other materials using appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Working closely with other departments to ensure stock and materials are available when required.
  • Communicating any stock issues, delivery problems, or operational concerns to the relevant person promptly.
  • Following company procedures relating to health and safety, stock control, manual handling, and warehouse operations.
  • Supporting other warehouse and stores duties as required by the business.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties associated with the role.
  • Required Experience

The ideal candidate will have

Previous warehouse or stores experience , preferably within a busy working environment.

  • Proven experience in warehouse picking and accurately selecting stock against orders or picking lists.
  • Previous goods-in / receiving experience , including checking, counting, and booking in deliveries.
  • Experience handling and organising a variety of stock, including boxes, packages, and loose items.
  • Experience carrying out stock checks, stocktakes, or inventory-related activities.
  • Experience using basic computer systems to record or retrieve information.
  • Previous experience working with delivery notes, purchase orders, stock records, or similar documentation would be advantageous.
  • Experience working closely with other departments within a business is desirable.
  • Computer Skills
  • Candidates should have basic computer literacy and be comfortable using computers as part of their daily duties.
  • Experience with warehouse management, inventory, or goods-in systems would be an advantage, although training may be provided for company-specific systems.
