Proactive Global is currently looking for a Metal Finisher/ Fettler to join one of our well-established customers based in Sunbury on Thames. Pay rate: £14- £16 per hour depending on experience.
Job specific duties:
- Working with stainless steel commonly up to 3mm.
- To ensure that the visible surface areas of metalwork are finished to the required standard.
- Prepare welded products before finishing (tidying welds, deburring, etc).
- Finish welded products as per the customer requirement for that order. Such finishes to include: Vapour Blast (glass media), NROB Grained.
- Ability to work from engineering and manufacturing drawings on your own.
- To record changes required to drawings to enable production information to be corrected and maintained accurately.
- Able to use safely associated machines and tools e.g. guillotines, rollers, stud gun, grinders, power files, drills.
- A high standard of workmanship to be maintained at all times.
- The company's quality policies and requirements are to be maintained at all times.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times.
- Responsible for good housekeeping in your own work area in line with Lean and 5S requirements.
- To promote a culture of continuous improvement among the workforce and implement such changes to reduce cost and assembly time whilst improving quality or ease of build.
Skills:
- Support team to ensure flexibility of skills in team for example cross-skilling as required.
- Identify and take actions when targets are not being met and waste is evident.
- Design with fit, form, and function, safety and cost in mind.
- Keeping errors to a minimum within the team and processes.
Lean CI:
- Support the company continuous improvement activities and data capture; participate and encourage idea generation.
Quality:
- Take no-go decisions and elevate where unsure.
- Make concessions where appropriate and ensure no repeats.
- Ensure all non-conformances are quarantined and investigated, problems contained and corrective actions achieved by working closely with the Quality team.
- Ensure Expo quality procedures are adhered to.
- Rework requirements are minimised.
- Team members are trained to apply above quality requirements and standards.
