THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you an experienced Maintenance Engineer ready to take the next step in your career, or an established Engineering Team Leader looking for your next challenge?

We are recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader to join an award-winning manufacturer based in Wembley, North West London.

The business is open to both experienced Team Leaders and strong Maintenance Engineers who are ready to step into their first leadership position.

The key is having the technical understanding, communication skills and maturity to lead a team effectively.

This is a leadership focused role, with responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of the engineering team.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for

  • Leading and supporting a small team of Maintenance Engineers
  • Conducting regular 1-to-1s and annual appraisals
  • Managing individual performance, development and training
  • Setting objectives and supporting engineers with their career development
  • Managing attendance and addressing performance issues where required
  • Coordinating and managing contractors working on site
  • Working with the Engineering Manager to plan engineering resource and priorities
  • Attending management meetings and representing the engineering team
  • Working closely with Production and other departments across the site
  • Monitoring engineering performance, maintenance activity and key KPIs
  • Supporting the delivery of PPM and reactive maintenance programmes
  • Identifying areas for improvement and driving engineering standards
  • Supporting continuous improvement and site engineering projects
  • Ensuring health, safety and engineering procedures are followed

ABOUT YOU

You may already be an Engineering Team Leader, or you could be an experienced Maintenance Engineer looking to make the move into leadership.

You will ideally have

  • Previous Maintenance Engineering experience within a manufacturing or production environment
  • Strong understanding of multi-skilled engineering and maintenance
  • Good electrical and/or mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Confidence managing people and handling challenging conversations
  • A professional and organised approach
  • Experience working with contractors or external suppliers
  • The ability to work effectively with Production and senior management
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement
  • A strong understanding of health and safety
  • Full right to work in the UK
