Mechanical Assembler
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Assembler to join an established manufacturing business in Bury St Edmunds on an urgent temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a versatile, hands-on individual with experience across mechanical, electrical and electronic assembly. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of assembly activities across the production line, making this an ideal role for someone with a broad practical skill set.
Role Details
- Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
- Location: Bury St Edmunds
- Contract: Temporary
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Working Days: Monday to Thursday
- Shift: Day shift
- Overtime: Available
The Role
As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be a key part of the production team, carrying out practical assembly work across mechanical, electrical and electronic components while supporting the wider manufacturing operation.
You will need to be comfortable working across different areas of the production line and completing varied assembly tasks to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and equipment to precise specifications
- Carry out electrical and electronic assembly work
- Complete soldering, wiring, crimping and general assembly activities where required
- Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and assembly instructions
- Use a range of hand tools, power tools and electromechanical equipment
- Carry out assembly and testing activities to a high standard
- Maintain quality control and ensure work meets required standards
- Work across different areas of the production line as required
- Follow all relevant health and safety and manufacturing procedures
About You
- Proven experience in mechanical assembly is essential
- Practical experience in electrical and/or electronics assembly
- Strong hands-on assembly skills across a range of disciplines
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and assembly documentation
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and electromechanical equipment
- Good attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
- Flexible and adaptable approach to varied assembly work
- Self-motivated with good initiative and communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Must be comfortable standing for long periods throughout the working day
This role requires someone with genuine practical assembly experience rather than basic electrical knowledge alone. A strong mechanical assembly background, combined with electrical and/or electronics experience, is essential.
