We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Planning Engineer to join our team. This role does not involve staff management, as a dedicated supervisor is already in place. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving abilities within an engineering environment, a deep understanding of technical drawings, and prior experience in CNC machining and fabrication, ideally within the aerospace sector.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Strong problem-solving skills within an engineering environment
- Comprehensive understanding of engineering drawings, including material specifications, treatments, assembly methods, and geometric tolerancing
- Excellent communication skills
- Previous experience in a CNC machine shop or fabrication environment
- Apprentice trained or higher qualification
- Experience within the aerospace industry
Role Expectations:
- Review and contract-check all incoming orders entered into our MRP system
- Assess production notes and drawings associated with purchase orders to confirm feasibility
- Ensure all documentation is complete and confirmation sign-off is recorded in the MRP system
- Communicate with customers regarding any requirements that cannot be met
- Advise the programming team of any customer-specific tooling requirements to ensure timely preparation
- Use the MRP system to plan routings and BOMs, ensuring that work orders are production-ready on schedule
