Proactive Personnel are recruiting for a Production Team Leader on behalf of our client based in Telford. In this role, the Team Leader is responsible for guiding and managing a group of associates to achieve specific goals, ensuring effective communication, and providing support to team members. This includes supporting shift management in achieving G&Os, and the day-to-day operation of specific sections, machines or stages to achieve business objectives.

Hours: Mon-Fri Double Days | 7:00am - 3:00pm & 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Salary: £32,985.00 - £35,436.00 per annum DOE

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for supervising, training, and supporting associates within their section.
  • Effectively communicating information to relevant stakeholders and associates, championing continuous improvement and compliance within the team.
  • Leadership style stemming from a lead-by-example approach regarding matters of Health and Safety, operational procedures and company policies.
  • Motivating associates, addressing performance issues, and interpersonal conflicts to aid team cohesion.
  • Ownership and ability to escalate issues outside their responsibility when required.
  • Assisting associates to achieve their cycle time in relation to production targets and ensuring any changes to the schedule are communicated effectively throughout the shift.
  • Supporting new associates and ensuring adequate job training is provided.
  • Ensuring team briefings happen every shift covering all issues including Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, 5s/TPM, absence and targets.
  • Understanding and communicating the Quality First philosophy, ensuring quality standards are achieved in terms of Right First Time (RFT).
  • Challenging non-conformance.
  • Effectively carrying out operational requests and tasks relating to business area goals.
  • Maintaining and enforcing operational standards within their section to ensure the daily operation runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Responsible for ordering parts to achieve the daily build plan and ensuring that minimum and maximum stock levels are maintained.
  • Ensuring your team understands production schedule expectations.
  • Effectively deploying the team to achieve schedule and production targets daily.
  • Ensuring production monitoring boards (e.g. hourly boards/output control boards) are kept up to date throughout the shift.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience of manufacturing and responsiveness to customer needs.
  • Basic understanding of relevant company policies and procedures.
  • An accredited Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good level of numerical and analytical ability.
  • Computer literate.
  • Experience of Lean Management Techniques/Kaizen.
  • Motivating, involving and engaging Associates to deliver departmental objectives.
  • Encouraging teamwork and leading by example.
  • Understanding of business KPIs, finance and budgetary control.
