Proactive Personnel are currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Depot Manager to oversee our clients daily operations of their Milton Keynes depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing logistics, supply chain processes, and ensuring efficient shipping and receiving activities. This role requires a strong leader who can supervise staff effectively while optimizing business processes to enhance productivity and profitability.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure all administration tasks are completed accurately and submitted on time as per the company’s procedures and task deadlines.
  • Provide assistance to all staff (drivers and yard) where applicable.
  • Ensure all deliveries and collections are fulfilled as per the instructions by the sales department.
  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in a roadworthy condition ensuring all vehicle maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Ensure all drivers and yard staff comply with the driving time and WT directives respectively.
  • Ensure all yard staff complete all tasks and targets allocated by the depot manager.
  • Ensure all work conducted at the depot is done in the most efficient manner, taking the company, customers and H&S regulations into consideration.
  • Where necessary, provide assistance in the yard with loading/off-loading vehicles, welding and customer deliveries/collections.
  • Provide appropriate assistance to all Nat Ops Team members, Sales, Transport, Head office if requested.
  • Ensure the integrity of the company is always maintained when dealing with customers, suppliers and all internal staff.
  • Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed as requested, ensuring all relevant documentation is correctly completed by all drivers.
  • Ensure all drivers complete a daily inspection on all vehicles ensuring all defects are recorded, reported to Transport and the appropriate remedial repairs completed.
  • Ensure all yard staff are monitored and supervised ensuring all daily, weekly and monthly tasks and targets are completed as the task deadline.
  • Ensure all staff comply with all the company’s H&S regulations ensuring all accidents and near misses are reported accordingly.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Proven experience in depot management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality control standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
