We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool Setter to join our clients manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining tools and machinery to ensure efficient production processes. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and experience in fabrication, CAD, and materials handling. The successful applicant will contribute to maintaining high standards of quality and safety within our workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate various tools and machinery, including milling machines and other fabrication equipment.
- Adjust tooling to meet specifications using hand tools and precision measuring devices.
- Monitor machine operations, troubleshoot issues, and perform basic maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Interpret technical drawings and CAD files, including SolidWorks models, to ensure accurate tool configuration.
- Handle materials safely within the warehouse environment, ensuring proper storage and movement of components.
- Assist with assembly tasks as required, ensuring parts are correctly fitted and assembled according to specifications.
- Operate programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to facilitate automated machine functions.
- Maintain organised work areas, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
- Document setup procedures and adjustments for quality control purposes.
Experience
- Proven experience in fabrication, machining, or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar programmes.
- Knowledge of milling, welding, and materials handling techniques.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, tooling setup, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and their application in manufacturing processes.
- Previous warehouse experience or involvement in assembly operations is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with the ability to interpret technical drawings is essential for success in this role.
- 5 years+ experience in a busy injection moulding factory as a setter/technician of various sizes machines and mould tools.
- IMT Level2 qualified.
- Forklift licence.
- Good attention to detail to ensure machine cycles according to company expectations.
